Who Are We?

Consider It Fixed is owned and operated by Ian Warhaftig.   People sometimes confuse him with Forrest Gump, the affable character in the book by Winston Groom.  Here’s why:

  • When Ian was 8 years old, he was selected to go to a special summer art camp at Springfield College.  He never went because he was too nervous around adults.
  • His mother called him her doodler as he doodled on everything.
  • When he wasn't doodling, he was taking things apart to see how they worked.  This included his first transistor radio, a Leica camera given him by his father, and a bicycle.  The bicycle was the only thing that he put back together.
  • In the early 1980's, he started building furniture in the Boston area for successful computer industry professionals.
  • In the mid-1980's, he decided to join the successful computer industry professionals.
  • As a computer industry research analyst at IDC, he accidentally rewrote the methodology for tracking the number of personal computers manufactured in the US.  It's now the industry standard.
  • In 1989, he joined a small software company that had some cool products - Microsoft.  Ian came to Hartford, Connecticut to open an office and evangelize Windows to the insurance industry.  He found himself sitting next to Bill Gates at dinner with executives from Aetna, Travelers, and Cigna.
  • In 1996, he managed a sales organization responsible for generating $200 million of annual business for Microsoft.
  • In 1998, Ian left 80-hour work weeks and returned home to his family.  Today, he is completely immersed in the world of technology.  Ian lives in West Hartford with his wife and 2 daughters, and walks 2 dogs, Max, a miniature dachshund and, Zoe, a cairn terrier, all of the time.
